The Third UTW Job Fair

On Saturday, 28 January 2017, the 3rd University to Work (UTW) Job Fair was held at the InterContinental Cairo Citystars Hotel, under the patronage of Manpower Minister Mohamed Saafan, Social Solidarity Minister Dr. Ghada Waly, Housing & Urban Communities Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, and Trade & Industry Minister Tarek Kabil.

The job fair came as an offshoot of the UTW initiative, which has been a tremendous success since its launch back in 2010, with some 3,000 engineering graduates already provided with qualifications fitting the labor market. With ECG Engineering Consultants Group and BPW (Business Professional Women) Emirates Club as lead sponsors, the job fair also received sponsorship from various prestigious firms operating in Egypt. This third edition of the job fair witnessed the participation of thirty major employers offering more than 6,000 job vacancies. Employers included ECG, Orascom Construction, Nile Waterproofing Materials Co. (BituNil), TEA Computers, Hassan Allam Holding, CompuGeorge, 3Brothers, Saudi Diyar Consultants, and Scib Paints, among others.

Under the slogan “Difference Makers,” ECG Vice President Dr. Nevine AbdelKhalek recognized several key figures for their contributions to youth development and employment efforts. Honored figures included Former Higher Education Minister Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, Tahya Misr Fund Executive Manager Mohamed Ashmawi, Tahya Misr Fund Communications Manager Dr. Heba Hafez, Suez Canal Bank Executives Hussein Sabour and Dr. Noor El-Zaini, Egyptian Food Bank CEO Dr. Niazi Salam, BPW Emirates Club Egypt President Dr. Hanan Taher, AUC Leadership Professor and “Lead with Passion” Foundation Chairman Dr. Hossam Farahat, Radio Announcer Dina Salah, and others. During the fair, Dr. AbdelKhalek announced that the 9th UTW Round would be held this summer in Luxor. She added that UTW training sessions for that round would focus on monument restoration and renewable energy.
