ECG Water & Wastewater Engineer Yomna El-Sharony has been awarded a Rotary Foundation-funded scholarship for a master’s degree in water management at the UNESCO Institute for Water Education (UNESCO-IHE), Delft, the Netherlands. This highly competitive scholarship is annually granted by the Rotary Foundation to only 10 water and sanitation professionals worldwide. El-Sharony will pursue her M.Sc. studies for 18 months in Delft.
Back in June, El-Sharony was encouraged by ECG’s Human Resources Department to apply for the Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals. As a nomination from a Rotarian and a Rotary Club in Egypt was necessary to support her application, ECG VP for Human Resources Dr. Nevine AbdelKhalek, who is a Rotarian, supported her application through the Rotary Club of Sphinx in Giza.
At a farewell reception held early October, El-Sharony shared her success story, study plans, as well as future plans following the completion of her studies. We wish her all the best.
